Local people still carry out their traditional lifestyleBhutan is a mountainous country that lies between as low as 150m to as high as 6000m although the territories visited by tourists are mainly between 1100m to as high as 5000m by snowmen trekkers.

Forest is the most precious natural resources for this country. Bhutanese people view their natural environment as a source of all life and the abode of the gods and spirits. Trekking in Bhutan is really a wilderness experience with great variety of landscapes, steep valleys and deep gorges and is no doubt one of the most beautiful and unspoiled territory in the entire Himalayas. Most treks are within the protected areas in the national parks.

Bhutanese people pray whenever they canPrayer flag with manuscripsBhutan has escaped the devastation suffered by its neighbor Tibet. Its Buddhist tradition, artistic heritage remains intack and unequal elsewhere in the world. Religious places such as goemba (Mahayana Buddhist monastery and lhakang (god house) are of powerful source of inspiration for spiritual practice. Roaming from one side to another, like wind that passes by without attaching itself to any of the places it flies over, prayer flag awakens the feeling of impermanence, reduces our attachment and puts everyday concerns that often make us forget what is really important in perspective. After a few days spent in silence, enriched by the prayers they have offered, pilgrims return to their valley with joy in their hearts. So the offerings made at these sacred sites encourage generosity and non-attachment.
